The high flyers of the Premier League this season, Manchester United, were brought down to the ground by Huddersfield Town in their ninth match of the campaign. The Red Devils faced their first defeat of the season at the hands of the Terriers by 2-1 and are now looking for redemption.
There can achieve that when the 13-time Premier League champions will face Swansea City in their next match in the Carabao Cup. The Manchester club will look to forget the humiliation at the John Smith’s Stadium in their last match by making it a successful outing at the Liberty Stadium.
The Red Devils have scored 22 goals so far this season and have dished out memorable performances against almost all their opponents. They had beaten the Swans by 4-0 in their earlier encounter in the Premier League and will look to repeat the same in their next match as well.
Their lineup might look something like this.
Defence
Jose Mourinho has been sceptical about the defensive lapses that were evident in their last match against Huddersfield and might be eyeing a few changes in the backline. He will look to play with the four-man defence but might have to exclude the likes of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones given their injuries. He is expected to go in with the duo of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof in the heart of the backline and are set to be supported by Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind on either side.
Though David de Gea is in the form of his life, the Portuguese manager will not be looking to go in with his Spanish custodian. He is expected to opt for the second choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero while going into the match against Swansea City.
Midfield
The Manchester United boss has been far from satisfied with the performance of his side’s midfield and there is a possibility that he will have to go in with Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic to stop the opposition from getting the possession of the ball.
Apart from the enforcers, the likes of Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are expected to start with the young forward Scott McTominay at their fore.
Attack
It looks quite unlikely that the Red Devils will go in with Romelu Lukaku as their main striker. In his absence, it is expected that the responsibility of spearheading the attack will be shouldered by the young Englishman Marcus Rashford, who has started so far on the left wing this season.
This is how they might line up:
