Liverpool failed to take even a single point from their trip to Wembley this weekend as they faltered to a 4-0 defeat, losing their second match of the season. They were also beaten by Manchester City earlier this season and are now reeling in the ninth place in the points table.
The Merseyside club are looking forward to making amends for their past mistakes in the near future, helping themselves to get out of the tumultuous situation they are presently in. The gaffer Jurgen Klopp has always been looking to strengthen his side’s attack and he might add some new players to the side to give him more options.
The German manager is monitoring a number of new players and might be zeroing on the Portuguese youngster Nuno Santos. The 22-year-old, is at present, plying his trade in the Portuguese Primeira Liga for local club Rio Ave and is highly regarded in Portuguese football for his excellent ability as a left winger.
The youngster earned his reputation as a forward during his days with the youth side of Benfica. However, he was not able to make a place in their senior side and was sent on loan to play for another Portuguese club Vitoria Setubal in the last term.
This term, however, Rio Ave have picked him as one of their main men in the attacking lineup and have handed him regular opportunities to feature in their starting lineup so far this term.
He has played 10 games so far for his present club and has attracted the attention of a number of outfits from all over Europe. Jurgen Klopp is one of his admirers and might look to add the Portuguese youngster to add to his strike force.
The German mastermind has always been a big connoisseur of youth and also has favoured the inclusion of attacking players into his side. His “gegenpressing” style of football has brought him rich dividends so far in his tenure with Liverpool and the addition of an attacker like Nuno Santos can enrich that aspect of his side further in the near future.
The Portuguese winger is known to make darting runs down the left-hand side and can also play as a secondary striker as well as on the right wing.
