Crystal Palace fans will definitely be happy with the business Alan Pardew has done this summer but the Eagles are still in the market for further additions on the deadline day. The South London side could stun the Premier League with the season-long loan signing of Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere. Sky Sports claim that it is between Bournemouth and Crystal Palace who can get hold of the English international for the next season.
While the Crystal Palace fans are setting high hopes over the signing of Wilshere, the Eagles are also preparing for further attacking reinforcements. The Mirror claims that Charlton Atheltic prodigy Ademola Lookman could be headed to Selhurst Park for a fee around £4m. It can prove a solid late addition to the South London club.
A like for like replacement for Bolasie
Crystal Palace were hit hard by the departure of Yannick Bolasie to Everton. They did manage to get a ludicrous sum of £28m for the Congolese attacker but the Eagles will definitely miss the direct and straight-forward approach of the 27-year-old. Bolasie is a strong and agile wide player who can tear apart any defence in the world on his day but he will ply his trade for Everton now. Lookman seems like a solid candidate who can replace Bolasie in the long run.
Just 18 years of age, Lookman burst onto the scene with Charlton last season. Even though the Addicks struggled as a unit and were demoted to the League One by the end of the season from Championship, Lookman did impress as an individual. Blessed with a sensational pace and ability on the ball, the 18-year-old can play anywhere across the final third and is rated among the biggest young talents in English football right now.
The transfer market is inflated nowadays and on the deadline day, it could become much worse. Taking it into account, £4m is not at all a high price for a player with such an enormous potential. Lookman can be a long-term prospect at Selhurst Park. With Remy and Benteke already signed, the English under-19 international can make the Crystal Palace attack much deadlier.
Lookman is still a raw talent, a prodigy and could be a world beater if gets the right guidance. Alan Pardew’s direct and attacking approach to the game will benefit the player reach his true potential. It can be a solid deadline day signing.
