Bemidele Jermaine Alli, better known as Dele Alli will reportedly be offered a new contract by Tottenham Hotspur very soon.
The 21-year old English midfielder, known for his goal-scoring exploits from the middle of the park has become a world-renowned superstar. His rise to fame was fast and well-deserved.
Alli joined Tottenham from MK Dons for a fee of £5m in the deadline hours of the January transfer window of 2015. He has since gone on to make 105 appearances for the club scoring 35 goals and laying 25 assists in the process.
His goal scoring heroics along with his link-up play with Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen saw him get his international call-up to the England national side.
Alli, at the tender age of 21 is not only a regular for the Three Lions but is a leader in the squad. With 2 goals and 3 assists in 21 games, Alli will be one of the many shouldering England’s hopes in next year’s FIFA World Cup at Russia.
Alli is considered to be one of the best young footballers of the modern generation and at the age of 21, he has already won two consecutive PFA Young Player of the Year awards. His attacking nature means that he can always shift up from his midfield role and effectively play as a second striker for the team. He has been praised by Mauricio Pochettino according to whom Alli “In the box, he looks like a striker, and outside the box, he plays like a midfielder.”
Netherlands legend Rafael Van Der Vaart praised Alli’s game and said the midfielder is fast, fluid and possesses a great skill set. Ex-England star Frank Lampard, heaped praise on Alli’s intelligence and ability to get into the box without being marked, something the Chelsea legend knew a thing or two about.
With big clubs lurking around the corner to snap up the English man, Tottenham will look to tie down the 21-year old to a new long-term deal. At present, Alli earns around £50,000-a-week, an amount that is set to significantly increase once he pens his new deal.
Alli already announced that he will be changing agents at the end of this current contract and with next year’s World Cup, platform being set up for the Englishman to perform, Spurs will be keen to see the English man pen a new contract before either takes places.
The new agent might want to prove his worth and hence negotiating with Alli on a wage basis might be difficult and if he were to star in next year’s World Cup, it would mean that the suitors for the highly-rated English man would only give him more power over the contract talks.
Tottenham will be desperate not to lose their star man but might have a tough job keeping him in the club.
