The infamous fallout between Rangers FC club captain Kenny Miller and dynamic coach Pedro Caixinha left the club in an awkward position. As the drama of the story intensified, with rumours of Miller being accused as the team mole; Caixinha left the fan favourite out of the matchday squad for their 4-1 victory against Hamilton Saturday.
The 37-year old club icon who has played for the club for 17 years was instead asked to join up with the Under-20’s for the trip to Brentford instead. The move has not gone down well with most fans and the situation threatens to boil over unless Rangers continues to win like they did against Hamilton Saturday.
Football experts went on to say that Miller is not a rat or snitch but is the victim of an inexperienced manager struggling to win over his dressing room and the Rangers striker has suffered at the hands of a manager out of his depth.
If his long career at Rangers FC is to be brought to such an unceremonious end, it will leave Rangers with very few options upfront until January when the winter transfer window will open.
However, it looks as if all is not over for Kenny Miller. The 37-year old was recalled to the bench by manager Pedro Caixinha for the club’s friendly clash against Morton. The match took place behind closed doors and Miller will be glad about how it went.
Starting on the bench, Miller was called on as a substitute and made an impact by scoring a goal in the 3-3 draw.
The striker was originally supposed to be left at home while Glasgow Rangers travelled to Canada for the Eusebio Cup clash against Benfica but with that being controversially cancelled; the 37-year old Rangers club captain was given a chance to reignite his career.
Miller’s performance in the 3-3 draw against Jim Duffy’s side in the Murray Park bounce match will give encouragement to thousands of Rangers faithful who will want to see their captain back in the thick of the action at the Ibrox.
Whether this proves to be a one-off case as this was a friendly behind closed doors or is the Portuguese tactician actually considering cutting short Miller’s punishment tenure remains to be seen. Miller at the moment, however, can do no more than he did; keeping his head down, training hard and scoring goals and with Miller being who he is, the last one should not be that difficult for him to achieve.
