Chelsea’s Eden Hazard could become the highest paid player in the Premier League if he accepts Chelsea’s brand new contract. The Blues have offered him in the region of £300,000 which would eclipse the pay packet of current highest paid player Paul Pogba of Manchester United.
Hazard has become the centrifugal character at the Stamford Bridge since the era of Jose Mourinho at West London. The Belgian playmaker has long been destined to extend his stay at the club but it took a bit long for the club to react.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and the Spanish giants might renew their interest in the player in the next summer with a big offer to test Chelsea’ resolve.
In this season he is yet to get back to his usual threatening mode as he is still recovering from an ankle injury and Antonio Conte doesn’t want to rush him. Hazard is currently on a £220,000 a week contract and is set to have a massive pay hike for his stupendous performances over the years.
He was instrumental in the last two Premier League titles and without him also, Chelsea are already looking much stronger this term. He could make his second start of this league season when Chelsea are scheduled to face Manchester City on Saturday.
A lot has been said about Hazard’s future in the past but this new deal would put a barrier to all the rumours. He is tipped to leave the club following his meteoric rise through the ranks but The Blues will not want to repeat the same mistake they did by letting go Nemanja Matic who joined Manchester United this summer.
The Serbian midfield enforcer has become an emphatic part of the Red Devils lineup and was very influential for the Blues. His loss has not only hurt Conte’s side but has also helped Manchester United turn into a strong unit, that is now proving hard to beat.
The offer is on the table but Hazard is still yet to sign on the dotted line. Chelsea are confident the player will extend his stay and it will help to grow his confidence for the future.
Hazard is right up there with the best in Europe and Chelsea will know that he is not easily replaceable. Reports claim that the Blues are confident that he will sign the new deal but if he does not, there is no shortage of clubs who will be ready to pounce on him in the next transfer windows.
