Tottenham Hotspur will look for nothing less than three points when they go up against Apoel Nicosia in their next match in the Champions League. The midweek clash will be played on the home turf of the Cypriot club but Tottenham will look to make it two wins out of two after they won their first match of this Champions League season against the German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund in their own backyard.
The Spurs looked in good touch in their last match against West Ham United, which they won by 3-2 and clinched their third victory in the Premier League this season. Harry Kane scored a brilliant brace while Christian Eriksen chipped in with one more to take all three points from the game. The club gaffer Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping for a repetition of the performance from his side and win their next match in the Champions League as well.
Defence
The Spurs defence has been looking good in the recent times and has helped their side to maintain their dominance on the pitch. Pochettino will look to continue with his tested trio at the back in the form of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and the new signing Davinson Sanchez in their match against Apoel Nicosia and extract all the three points from it, keeping the opposition strikers at bay for as much as possible. Hugo Lloris, as usual, will start for the North London club in their goal.
Midfield
While Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier will be expected to start in the middle of the pitch, the flanks are supposed to be covered by new signing Serge Aurier and left winger Heung Min Son. All of the players have been in brilliant form in the domestic as well as European matches and will look to dominate the proceedings from the word go in the midweek clash.
Attack
Supported ably by forwards Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen, who have been among goals from the very start of the season, the Spurs will have their attack spearheaded by none other than the top scorer in the last two seasons of Premier League, Harry Kane and together they will look to make most of the weakness of the Apoel defence and score as many as possible to give them an extra advantage over their rivals in the group stage this season.
Predicted Lineup
Lloris, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Aurier, Dier, Sissoko, Son, Eriksen, Dele, Kane.
