Tottenham Hotspur are finding themselves in a mixed situation in terms of results in the Premier League so far this season and are looking to get themselves in a better position in the league table than they are currently into. The runner-ups from the last season have been wary of their consistency, especially in the striking department, with their mainstay in the frontline, Harry Kane, scoring only twice before the game against West Ham, this season so far in the Premier League.
This has been a cause of a headache for their manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is looking for a new striker who can be a good backup for the English marksman in the North London club.
The Argentine tactician has been eyeing a number of players from all over Europe including Arkadiusz Milik, who is currently playing in the Italian Serie A for Napoli. He has been one of the prime weapons in their arsenal since his arrival in the side in 2016 and has scored 10 goals in 27 matches so far for them.
However, their present manager Maurizio Sarri has been inclined to use the Belgian striker Dries Mertens more in the side than the Poland international Milik, which has made him fall down the pecking order in the team and has been denied a place in the starting eleven on a regular basis. This has irked a number of clubs to monitor the situation regarding the player’s future at the Serie A outfit, with Tottenham Hotspur leading the pack.
The 23-year-old striker has a brilliant record playing for his former club Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie, for whom he scored 47 goals in 75 matches. The Spurs manager Pochettino will want him to find a similar kind of form in the Premier League, helping them to solve the problem they are currently facing when it comes to scoring goals.
However, the Poland international might not have the privilege to get a place in the starting lineup in the presence of their top scorer for the last two seasons, Harry Kane and might have to vie with the Spanish striker Fernando Llorente for the place of a second choice striker in the team for the rest of the season, in case he agrees to a move to England next January.
