Manchester City have started this season like never before as Pep Guardiola’s side have been pretty ruthless to their opponents. The Sky Blues are looking in a great shape as Pep has put a great amount of hard work behind the side to lift them for the previous season. Last season was Pep’s maiden season in the Premier League and for the first time in his career, the gaffer couldn’t win any silverware in a season and he wants to change the equation this time.
According to reports, City are interested in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The 22-year-old has been one of the most sought-after midfielders and has been scouted by a number of clubs. He was signed from Genk in 2015 and has continued his good form for the Biancocelesti.
Born to a Spanish father, the youngster is a modern day midfielder who loves to use his physique to roam forward. A complete box to box midfielder, he can contribute to the game more vigorously than any other young midfielders in the Serie-A at this moment.
His all-round ability and unbelievable work rate have all been qualities which have made him a bit different from the other players. Both defensively and offensively he has contributed to the game. He has been deployed in the deep midfield in a number of matches but he is best suited in the box to box role.
A player like him would be an asset to any team and Guardiola’s possession-based setup would compliment his playing style. He has a pretty lengthy contract with the Serie-A club but in the past, City have shown if they really want any player, they can get him for any price and he is no exception to that.
His agent Kezman who also played for Chelsea made it clear a number of clubs have been circling around the player. “There’s been a lot of interest from several clubs, such as those in Madrid, Manchester and Milan.
‘But he wants to be happy, to play to keep growing and become one of the best in his role.”
One of his qualities is how he uses his aerial advantage to win balls. This is a pretty rare quality and he has the knack to knock out players with his combative presence in the attacking third. Arch rivals Manchester United are also monitoring the player as Jose Mourinho wants to take the player to Old Trafford. But is he an option for City?
