The arrival of Marco Silva at the Vicarage Road has brought positivity to Watford who are pretty much in the driving seat at the moment. Barring the 6-0 loss at the hand of Manchester City in the last match, the Hornets are pretty much settled under the tutelage of the Portuguese boss. They lost their first match in the Premier League against the Sky Blues and with the addition of a number of players, they are on course for a pretty exciting finish as it seems.
But despite their superlative displays, every team do have their requirement and similarly, Silva has pointed some loopholes in his side. To fill these gaps would be one of his biggest concerns and according to reports, the Hornets boss is eyeing the service of Omar Elabdellaoui of Olympiacos.
The right-back has been in demand and Watford are one of the probable suitors. The Norwegian international has the knowledge of Silva’s coaching as he played under him at the KCOM Stadium in the past. Although he couldn’t save the club from relegation, his displays were pretty impressive.
Silva loves to use wingbacks who create a transition between the defence and offence and keeping that in mind, Elabdellaoui would be a wonderful addition to the team. His contract is going to expire in the summer and he is up for grabs in January when he is free to sign a pre-contract with any club.
A plethora of clubs with the likes of Huddersfield Town, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Spartak Moscow and Stuttgart are also interested in the player but given his previous commitment with the Hornets’ boss, Watford do hold an edge in this matter.
This season has not gone down well for the player as he has featured in just four matches in all competitions and will be searching a club who could offer him ample first team football. Despite the resurgence of Daryl Janmaat, the right back section is still looking weak and Silva wants to take a chance in the January by going for the Norwegian.
A Skeid Oslo youth product, he did have a very small stint with the Manchester City reserve team but failed to make it to the senior time. He moved to the Greek club in 2014/15 and has made a name of his own. It won’t be difficult for the Hornets to snap up the player who has all the qualities to flourish in England.
