Everton are in absolute disarray, to say the least, losing all their recent games in the Premier League as well as in the Europa League. Their latest defeat came against a brilliant Manchester United side, who literally tore their defence apart to put four in the back of the net and make it three losses in a row for the Toffees, pushing them down into the dreaded zone of relegation.
This being the trend at the Merseyside club, there are rumours that the present man in charge at Goodison Park, Ronald Koeman, might face the axe in the forthcoming days if the condition does not change for his side.
However, that might not materialise very soon, as the Dutchman is one of the most influential managers in the history of Everton, taking his side into the top eight in the last season as well.
The ex-Southampton manager, who took up the job of the manager at Everton in the last term, has been is one of the most respected coaches in English as well as European football. He has been the man in charge at an array of clubs in Netherlands, Spain and England, including the likes of Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Southampton and now Everton.
Known for his decisive tactics, which has brought rich dividends to the clubs he has managed so far, the 54-year-old is hailed as one of the best strategists in European football since his inception of the managerial career in the year 1997 as the assistant coach of the Netherlands national team.
After he took on the charge at the Merseyside club, Koeman brought in a number of new players to the forefront and developed a team with the perfect blend of youth and experience, so as to make the last term a successful one for the Toffees.
Though there were occasional glitches, which deferred the progress of his team, the Dutchman went on to get his team to finish at the seventh position in the League table, thus confirming a place for them in the Europa League as well.
Though the recent results don’t speak in his favour, there are more matches to come this season, which they can hopefully win and make it a successful season just as the last one. Everton should not make any hasty decision and should keep faith in the coaching techniques of the Dutchman for the rest of the season.
