Manchester United are looking in ominous touch this season and have not lost a single match so far. They won their first three matches in a row and drew their fourth one against a resilient Stoke City, which kept them cemented at the top of the league table to end another successful match-week for the Red Devils.
A number of new players have been brought into the side this summer and have helped the Red Devils to build a formidable lineup that has their rivals on the ropes so far in this campaign.
However, the man in charge at Old Trafford is well aware of the fact that he will need all his players to perform well as it is going to be a tough season with the team looking to play their first Champions League match after missing out in the last season.
The Portuguese mastermind has been wary about the defensive capabilities of his side in the past and is looking to keep his options open for the rest of the season. He has been keeping his tabs on using the versatile left footed player Daley Blind as the left back in his team, with his first choice left back Luke Shaw still recovering from an injury against Swansea City, which caused him to miss a chunk of the last term and this season’s starting matches as well.
The England international is in turmoil over his career at Old Trafford, with a chance of being offloaded by the team management in the next transfer window. Mourinho has not been much fond of the full back, who arrived in 2014 from Southampton after he has been prone to injuries, and might be willing to let go of him in the winter transfer market.
The player, however, is looking forward to signing a new contract with the former Premier League champions, with his present contract ending in 2019. Shaw is well aware of the fact that his fitness might be the main detriment in getting him a new contract, extending his stay at Old Trafford in the forthcoming days and is looking to attain full fitness by playing for the reserves.
With Mourinho eyeing the likes of Ryan Sessegnon from Championship side Fulham and Kieran Tierney from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, the future looks rather gloomy for the England international. However, he is trying his level best to attain fitness and perform well for the senior squad once again so as to make the Portuguese coach give him another chance to revive his career with the Red Devils. So does he deserve a new deal at Old Trafford?
