Burnley started their Premier League campaign in the best possible way, having beaten the defending champions Chelsea in their very first match of the season by 3-2. However, they faced defeat in their next match against West Bromwich Albion and bounced back right in the ending moments to manage a last gasp equalizer against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Clarets lost one of their most crucial players in the last term in the form of Andre Gray who left the team to join fellow Premier League rivals, Watford. However, that gap was bridged by the New Zealander Chris Wood who came in from Championship club Leeds United. The player also got his first Premier League goal in his very first top flight match in English football on his debut against Spurs in Burnley’s last match.
Burnley has a number of good players in their lineup and will look for nothing less than three points when they go up against Crystal Palace in their next match this weekend. They will need all their players to fire and will need to keep the resilient Eagles at bay as they will be desperate to get some valuable points under their belt having lost all the three matches so far in the Premier League and lurking in the relegation zone.
Here is how the Clarets might line up in this tie:
Defence-
Led by their captain and goalkeeper Tom Heaton, the back four of the Clarets will look forward to keeping their opponents under check. While Matthew Lowton and Stephen Ward will be taking care of the right and left flanks, the big frames of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee will be placed at the heart of the defence for the Clarets and will make sure that none of the Eagles can get a goal past them in the next match.
Midfield-
Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jack Cork, Steven Defour and Robbie Brady are expected to take charge of the midfield when their team go up against Crystal Palace this weekend. They demonstrated some very good skills in their last outing against one of the top teams in the Premier League in the form of Tottenham and will be looking to do the same against the Eagles in their next match as well.
Attack-
All eyes will be on Chris Wood, who came off the bench in his very first match in the Premier League and scored his debut goal to rescue a point against the Spurs. He will be expected to start alongside their current top scorer Sam Vokes, while Scott Arfield might start off the bench.
Predicted lineup-
Heaton, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Ward, Gudmundsson, Cork, Defour, Brady, Vokes, Arfield/Wood.
