New Douglas Park was the venue where The Celts went hunting and they did yield a commanding result. Brendan Rodger’s Celtic dismantled Hamilton effortlessly and moved a point ahead of Aberdeen with an extra game played. A goal from Edouard, a brace from Sinclair and a superb finish from Armstrong paved the way for victory. Here’s how The Hoops have been rated after the win:
GK – Craig Gordon – 5/10
Leaving the game without a clean-sheet must have hurt Gordon who should have dealt with the cross way better from which Goric scored. Decent overall as usual.
CB: Mikael Lustig – 7/10
Raided time and again to push forward and create another attacking option which was interesting to watch. He didn’t have much to do in defence.
CB: Jozo Simunovic – 7/10
A performance filled with confidence and composure. Played a terrific through ball to Edouard which led to Sinclair’s first goal.
CB: Kieran Tierney – 7/10
Covered the centre-back region today and he was tidy at his work. Stuck to basics, played simple passes and pitched in from the left side whenever needed.
RM: Callum McGregor – 7/10
Faired well enough playing in a peculiar position from his perspective but got an assist for Armstrong’s goal by playing a classic one-two.
CM: Scott Brown – 6.5/10
One major negative incident and one major positive incident for the midfielder. Played a sweet through ball for Sinclair’s second but didn’t track Goric properly which led to the goal for Hamilton.
CM: Stuart Armstrong – 7.5/10
Scored a sublime opener for Celtic coming from the left and finishing beautifully. Battled hard in the midfield and made good work out of it. Top performance from the lad.
LM: Scott Sinclair – 8/10
Missed chances to get a hat-trick but took the most important ones when they mattered to get a brace. Looked to be the person who carried the most threat
RF: James Forrest – 7/10
He was alert on the right and put in a good shift which allowed Roberts to roam free. Could have gotten assists but it was a very neat performance.
LF: Patrick Roberts – 8.5/10
He was troublesome all night and kept finding spaces for Celtic to exploit. Played one-two for Edouard goal as well. A great debut and the Celtic fans would only hope that he keeps this consistency.
ST: Odsonne Edouard – 8/10
His strength and presence was evident and he fared so well. He looks seriously promising after arriving on loan from Paris St.Germain. Fit in perfectly.
