In a shocking report, Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy hasn’t ruled out a move away from King Power Stadium in the near future. The English forward had come dangerously close to leaving the Foxes in the summer of 2016 after winning the league but opted against it.
However, in a recent interview, the mercurial striker has stated that one Premier League medal wouldn’t be enough and he is looking at options. However, he has refused to regret his decision to turn down Arsenal last summer, who went on to win the FA Cup and qualify for the Europa League as Leicester finished way below.
“It was my choice to turn Arsenal down. But if another offer came in, it would be the same in that I would look at it and work out the pros and cons. But, no, turning down Arsenal doesn’t mean I wouldn’t look at another offer,” said Vardy.
The 30-year-old has been busy throughout the summer with his V9 Academy, where he is trying to launch the careers of 42 non-League hopefuls, all aspiring to follow his footsteps. Players like Danny Newton, Blair Turgott, Alex Penny and Lamar Reynolds, have all graduated from Vardy’s Academy and were signed by professional clubs.
However, this comes as bad news for Leicester who wouldn’t want to leave the striker at any cost, who was key to their title winning campaign two years back. But the late bloomer will surely eye a top club if he is to leave the Foxes.
Here are the 3 clubs that Vardy could join-
Chelsea- The Blues have been keen to land him since the last two summers and a shortage of striker this season had also led them to his door but no deal could happen. They will have to leave Diego Costa this season or next and they will still be in need of a quality forward up front with Michy Batshuayi seemingly incapable of breaking into the first team. Vardy seems a decent fit.
Everton- The Toffees need a centre forward desperately as Wayne Rooney’s off field antics and personal problems could affect his form severely and Ronald Koeman will have absolutely no options to replace the ageing English forward. Someone like Jamie Vardy could be the exact option they are looking for.
Arsenal- Well, the indication is clear that he would reconsider if the Gunners come back with another deal. Next season, the Gunners are likely to be without Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez and a proven forward like Vardy could really help them in keeping the score sheet ticking in times of crisis.
