Brighton are back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on West Bromwich Albion at the AMEX. Below we discuss my predicted lineup for The Seagulls in the 4-4-1-1 formation they have lined-up with so far this season.
In goal would be Mattew Ryan after a positive performance against Watford before the international break. Ryan has not had the easiest start to his Brighton career making a couple of mistakes and has he also struggled to command his area as he is not the tallest goalkeeper, so a mistake against West Bromwich Albion could lead to Ryan being replaced by deadline day loan signing from Newcastle Tim Krul.
In defence would be the same back four that lined up against Watford in Bruno,Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Markus Suttner. This back four was very solid in the Watford game and got a well deserved clean sheet under their bag.
The midfield four for me would be Anthony Knockaert on the right wing. Dale Stephens and Pascal Gross in the middle and then Jose Izquierdo on the left wing. The reason I would put Gross in cm rather then Davy Propper is because Gross is better at the defensive side of the game than Propper.
Tucked in behind the striker in the number 10 role would be Propper because when allowed a more attacking role in the midfield for The Netherlands over the international break, it worked wonderfully as he bagged two goals and showed a lot more attacking intent than his current deeper cm role at Brighton allows him to do.
Leading the line would be Tomer Hemed. The Israel striker has started all three of Brighton’s Premier League games so far and was denied by the post against Watford. After his performance against Watford hopefully, Hemed can get off the mark against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. Hemed also is Albion’s only fit striker at the moment because of injury sidelining Glenn Murray and Sam Baldock, with loanee Izzy Brown being touch and go to whether he will be available for Saturday.
Whoever lines up in the staring eleven for The Seagulls, Chris Hughton will be hoping that the great performance by Brighton against Watford can be carried into Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion.
This is how they might line up:
