Leicester City have been quite predictable so far. While they are no more the giant killers of the Premier League for over a year now, they have started their season in a mixed and assumable manner. They lost to Arsenal and Manchester United in the first and third game but were quite comfortable against Brighton & Hove Albion.
And the way it is going, they look like an ideal candidate for the Europa League now. They are not as good as the top six but are better than most of the mid table and lower table teams. However, although consistency might be an issue, Craig Shakespeare does have a squad that can be a threat to any top side on their day.
They face defending champions Chelsea next who have rejuvenated from their opening day defeat against Burnley and could face a real challenge at King Power Stadium this Saturday. Here are three players who could come in handy for them-
Jamie Vardy-
The striker looks to be back in his comfort zone this season scoring two goals in three games so far and he has been like this since Shakespeare took charge of the side a little after mid-season the last term. He has got back his animal instinct and is timing his runs to perfection again, that had won Leicester the title two years back.
His pace and tenacity would surely be a tough thing to handle for the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger and they would hope Vardy doesn’t get to run into the spaces behind them.
Riyad Mahrez-
The Algerian international was the talk of whole Europe on the last two days of the transfer window who was apparently omnipresent in the transfer plans of most top clubs after taking time off from the training of the national side. However, the drama has ended and he still remains a Leicester player for the rest of the season at least, and the manager hardly had a doubt with his commitment.
From the left-hand side, Marcos Alonso will hardly get a chance to attack with Mahrez to cover and with his excellent dribbling abilities in and around the D-box, the Leicester City man could really be damaging for Chelsea.
Harry Maguire-
The new arrival from Hull City has been phenomenal so far. His gigantic frame will make sure Alvaro Morata doesn’t get a touch of the ball from the wide deliveries and will continue to dominate aerially at the back. Chelsea will rely heavily on the Spaniard given Michy Batshuayi has been unimpressive in the league and Maguire could be an effective weapon against him.
