Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers have had a mixed start to their new season under the stewardship of Pedro Caixinha. The Gers have been blown out of the Europa League by Progres Niederkorn but they are currently placed 5th in the league table with 7 points after 4 games.
Here are three players who have failed to impress so far this season.
Dalcio
Dalcio made a move to the Ibrox Stadium on loan from Portuguese heavyweights Benfica, but he has failed to make any substantial impact with Rangers. The 21-year-old made his debut against Luxembourg minnows Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League and in both the legs, he looked absolutely terrible and shambolic.
The starlet struggled to make proper use of his pace and failed to withstand the animosity which Niederkorn had on offer and one of the most intriguing demerits that were witnessed was the manner in which he squandered his opportunities in the final third. He looked clueless up front and it would take humongous efforts from him to persuade Caixinha into implementing him in his tactical nous once again this season.
Lee Hodson
As a modern-day fullback, it is expected that Lee Hodson would make marauding runs up the pitch and at the same time, he would also cater to his defensive responsibilities. But so far, he has failed to do the needful. The Northern Ireland international has regularly found himself out of his position and has hardly made contributions to the attacking endeavours of the Light Blues.
Newcomers Declan John and Ryan Jack are more than capable of being slotted in down either side. Besides, Lee Wallace’s availability will only push Hodson down in the pecking order as he has really not done enough to make his presence felt.
Kenny Miller
In order to mount a serious challenge to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season, the former Al-Gharafa boss has to move on from average players like Kenny Miller, although they have been veteran servants to the Glasgow based club. Miller isn’t getting better with age and is unarguably beyond his prime.
The 38-year-old hasn’t been able to provide an attacking tooth up front and despite Caixinha’s persistence with him, he hasn’t been able to chalk out the desired outputs. His role should now be reduced to that on an impact substitute, for he hardly looks capable enough to bag a place in the starting line-up on a regular basis.
