Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea are looking good this season as well so far and have started their title defense in gallant style, defeating two of their closest rivals in the form of Tottenham Hotspur and Everton in consecutive matches. They are now looking to continue their good run for the rest of the season as the campaign resumes after the ongoing international break.
With the closure of the transfer market for this summer, the West London club have come out with their 25 men squad for the Premier League and sprung one of the biggest surprises of the season so far. They have included one of the most controversial characters of European football, apart from being one of the top strikers to have played for the Blues in the recent times, Diego Costa in their squad.
This has made their fans, as well as the whole football fraternity, raise their eyebrows in awe and disbelief, as this incident looked impossible on the basis of what happened in the last couple months since the end of the 2016-17 season.
After they were crowned the champions of the Premier League, Chelsea let their players have some free time with their families before returning back to the club for the pre-season tour.
However, the Spanish striker, who topped the goal scoring chart for the West London club in the last term and led his team to a triumphant season, was reportedly told by their Italian gaffer Antonio Conte that he was not in his plans for the new season. The Spaniard came out with this statement, which was more of a secret, intra-team message and made it public to leave the Italian mastermind fuming.
Since then, the Spaniard has been eyeing a move to his former club Atletico Madrid and leave Chelsea as soon as possible. However, the move failed from materializing and the player had to face the wrath of his present club as well as coach and had an ugly spat with them.
Reportedly, Costa has denied returning to Stamford Bridge and the football fraternity are looking eagerly towards what next is going to happen between the club and the player when the season resumes after the international break.
However, now that the controversial yet successful striker has found a place in the Chelsea squad for the new season, this is the way the team might look like with his inclusion in the starting lineup for the West London club-
Courtois, Azpilicueta, Cahill/Luiz, Luiz/Rudiger, Alonso, Bakayoko/Drinkwater, Kante, Moses/Zappacosta, Morata/Pedro, Costa, Willian/Hazard.
