Leicester City would be adamant to make amends in this season following their poor performance in the last season. They fumbled pretty badly in their defence of the Premier League title.
The situation was so worse their title winning manager Claudio Ranieri had to be sacked in an attempt to keep their juggernaut running. Ranieri’s assistant at the King Power Stadium, Craig Shakespeare had to take things under his fold to turn things around.
Players like Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater failed to put in top notch performance in the first part of the season but a late surge in form helped them to gain a respectable position.
Leicester City Predicted Lineup
Defence
Peter Schmeichel will be in the Foxes goal to throw a challenge to the attackers. Their defence let them down as both Wes Morgan and Robert Huth hadn’t been able to recall their best performance in the backline so the Danish international needs to be a bit conscious this season.
The arrival Harry Maguire has certainly been the most eventful move at the King Power Stadium. The English international was one of the shining performers for Hull City last season and would like to replicate his performance for the Foxes.
Wes Morgan will be looking forward to having a more error free season.
Danny Simpson will start at the right back position while Fuchs will be operating from the opposite flank.
Midfield
The departure of Danny Drinkwater could have unsettled things for Shakespeare but the Foxes roped in Vicente Iborra from Sevilla this summer who could fill the void of the midfielder.
Iborra’s partner will be Onyinye Ndidi. The tireless runner needs to be at the top of his game to compliment Iborra’s tenacity in the middle of the pitch.
Attack
Riyad Mahrez had been hogging all the limelight till yesterday. The Algerian winger was given the permission to leave his current club but couldn’t find a suitor for himself. He is like to be re-inducted to the starting lineup and will start on the right flank.
Demarai Gray also has been the hottest prospect in the transfer market and the club rejected a number of offers for the youngster. Marc Albrighton’s performance hasn’t been up to the mark so the 21-year-old will have a chance to cement his place in the starting lineup.
Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy will have the onus to lead the attack.
