Tottenham Hotspur had been sitting pretty quietly in the transfer market and left it pretty late to complete their summer shopping. They snapped up three signings with the likes of Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth and last but not the least Fernando Llorente who was their deadline day signing.
The squad depth is pretty envious at this moment and they are likely to challenge for the Premier League title once again. Let’s have a look on how they could line up this season.
Defence
Barring a few mistakes, Hugo Lloris had a pretty impressive last season and he started this season too on a positive note. The French international is tipped to spend his rest of the career at the North London club.
The signing of Davinson Sanchez from Ajax will give Mauricio Pochettino a chance to experiment with his backline. The Argentine gaffer very successfully implemented the plan last season with Eric Dier playing the role of the third centre back.
But the arrival of the 21-year-old will certainly give a major boost to their defensive setup. The Colombian international is set to fill in alongside Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweoreld in the central defence.
Midfield
The idea of the modern fullbacks has been changed completely. These days managers prefer wingbacks who love to emphasise more on the attack but has to be equally fluid when it comes to defending.
The arrival of Serge Aurier will make the task easy as the Ivorian international is known for his darting runs through the flanks. He is lightning fast and doesn’t fear to take on opposition defenders. He will be stationed on the right side.
Danny Rose has been one of the most hardworking and consistent performers in the Premier League. The English international is due to return from injury this month and will command a place in the starting lineup.
Eric Dier’s anchor ship from the midfield will be needed heavily this term. The defensive midfielder’s performance in the middle of the park helped the side to play a fluent game last season.
Mousa Dembele is a bundle of energy in the centre of the pitch. The Belgium international has been pulling the strings in the midfield and with Dier alongside him, Pochettino definitely would be looking forward to using the pair more regularly.
Attack
Dele Alli would love to replicate his last season’s performance and will have the responsibility to launch the attacks. Christian Eriksen will be his partner in the crime.
Harry Kane is yet to open his account in the Premier League and once he starts firing goals it would be very difficult to stop him.
