Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a solid start to their campaign in the English second division this season, having collected 10 points from their first 5 league outings. They have indeed represented themselves as a side capable enough to challenge for a place inside the top six. The Wolves have looked a lot more composed and willing this season and the continuation of the same would hold paramount importance.
It has been a productive summer transfer window for them as under the tutelage of Nuno Espirito Santo, they have lured some quality names to the Molineux Stadium. The likes of Ruben Neves, Roderick Miranda, Ryan Bennett and Barry Douglas are a few names and it goes without saying that Espirito Santo has done his bit of bolstering his squad for a very challenging journey up ahead.
They have splashed the cash in the right areas and have pencilled some really shrewd loan deals as well. However, it is perceived that the Wolves would make some notable signings in the final hours of the transfer window to cater to their needs. As per one of the latest report by Sky Sports, the Wanderers are all set to make PSV’s attacker Jurgen Locadia for a fee which is believed to be £10 million.
Locadia has been in the books of the Dutch outfit since 2011 after substantially progressing during his youth career. The Dutchman is a versatile attacker and is capable of plying his trade as a striker as well as a winger. He created a lot of buzz during the 2015-16 season and saw his stocks rise rapidly. But then, his progress took a blow last season.
The 23-year-old suffered from groin injury during the first half of the season and could manoeuvre merely 3 goals and get 3 assists to his name in 14 appearances that he was handed. He does have plenty of experience to showcase and is a prolific goal scorer who bangs goals at regular intervals. With a move to Wolves, he will have the chance to reshape his career.
The former Netherlands U21 international is a shrewd package up front and is very clinical. He constantly sniffs for goals and has raw pace in his boots which does make him an appealing commodity. Having sold Nouha Dicko to Hull City, Espirito Santo’s side do need a quality striker who could score for fun and Locadia certainly fits the bill.
