Scottish Premiership outfit Celtic have kept things very simple and tidy over the course of the summer transfer window and have aimed to enhance the quality of their squad rather that adding quantity. Brendan Rodgers finalized the incomings of three players of fine calibre in the shapes of Kundai Benyu, Jonny Hayes and Olivier Ntcham pretty early this summer and after a long wait, they negotiated yet another loan deal for Patrick Roberts of Manchester City.
The Celts have given testaments of their loopholes in their last two fixtures, after their defeat at the hands of FC Astana in the Champions League play-off’s second leg and their draw against St Johnstone in their Scottish top flight fixture. Their squad does lack some depth, considering that they would have to meet domestic obligations and will also have to lock horns against three top quality sides in Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht in the group stage of the Champions League.
One of the major worries for Rodgers is the unavailability of their striker Moussa Dembele. Dembele has been sidelined owing to his hamstring injury and is unlikely to return before the second week of September. Besides, it was evident last season that Leigh Griffiths couldn’t really challenge the Frenchman in securing a place in the starting line-up of the former Liverpool boss and thus, the Glasgow giants are keen to find a decent striker to introduce the element of competitiveness up front.
If one of the latest reports is to be believed, Celtic are closing in on a deal to sign PSG’s youngster Odsonne Edouard. Edouard emerged through the youth ranks of AF Bobigny and PSG and then, he paved his way to the PSG B side.
After a year, he was promoted to PSG side owing to his dazzling form and has chiselled a name for himself as a sensational goal scoring youngster with lots of potential in him, and thus, the interest of the Glasgow based club makes complete sense.
The 19-year-old is a modern-day striker with blistering pace and trickery in his boots. He possesses excellent control on the ball and his daunting figure makes him an appealing commodity in the air. Despite his age, he has shown immense clinical abilities and composure so far and is highly regarded in France.
With a move to the Celtic Park, he should be able to help the Hoops in jotting good results in their domestic as well as European endeavours and further continue his progress as well.
