If one of the latest reports is to be believed, Swansea City have put West Bromwich Albion’s winger Nacer Chadli on their radar and are desirous to make him sign on the dotted line before the curtains of the summer transfer window fall. The Wales based outfit have been interested to sign Chadli since 2013 but somehow, they couldn’t yield anything substantial out of their interest.
The Swans have preferred quality over quantity this summer and their signings could be fetched forward as the testaments to the same. They have lured Sam Clucas, Roque Mesa, Tammy Abraham and Erwin Mulder so far but it is perceived that Paul Clement is interested to make a late dash in order to beef his arsenal further. They lost their star campaigner Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton this summer and thus, their apparent interest to sign Chadli makes perfect sense.
Chadli emerged through the youth ranks of JS Thier-a-Liege, Standard Liege and MVV before being lured away by AGOVV Apeldoom. He made a fine name for himself after his move to Twente, and seeing his rapid progress with the Dutch side, Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur were tempted to sign him in the summer of 2013. After his three seasons with the North London based outfit, he was acquired by the Baggies last summer on a four-year deal for a fee which was believed to be £13million.
He was quick to cement his spot under the tutelage of Tony Pulis after his move to the Hawthorns, and he banged 5 goals and registered 32 chances in 31 appearances he was handed in the English top flight and was one of the most productive players for his current employers in his debut season with them. At this stroke of hour, it is perceived that he is interested to venture into a new endeavour and Swansea City have emerged as a club which wants to pull him to their ranks.
If Clement actually manages to strike a deal, it would certainly be a galvanizing signing for them as he is a beast of a player with notable Premier League experience under his belt. The 28-year-old is a physically dominant player who uses his strength to good effect and is capable enough to ply his trade in a wide array of offensive positions. The Belgium international is quick, has the guile and is technically very sound and if a deal does take place, the quality of Swansea City’s ranks will certainly get enhanced.
