The Championship outfit have started their season in a decent manner, having bagged 9 points from their first 5 league outings. The Reds found it troublesome to cope with the animosity which the English second division offered last season as they managed to refrain themselves from falling into the clutches of the relegation zone on the basis of goal difference.
Quite contrary to the last season where they could manoeuvre an unappealing 21st place finish with 51 points, it has been intriguing to see the Tricky Trees registering wins against Millwall, Brentford and Middlesbrough, but then, their defensive frailties have also been exposed as Leeds United chiselled a 0-2 win at the City Ground on Saturday, apart from their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Barnsley earlier this season.
Under the tutelage of Mark Warburton, Forest have made some stupendous signings like Daryl Murphy, Barrie McKay and Liam Bridcutt. However, Warburton perceived that a reputed custodian was a dire need of his club and thus, he was been keen off late to sign Frederik Ronnow. Ronnow plies his trade for Danish Superliga side Brondby apart from the national football side of Denmark.
The 25-year-old emerged through the youth ranks of Stensballe IK and AC Horsens, before being given the uplift to the senior side of the latter. Brondby came calling for him in the summer transfer window of 2015 and eventually, he was tempted to sign on the dotted line and make a move to the Brondby Stadium. He has shown over the course of his career that he is a goalkeeper of fine calibre and no wonder why Warburton had put him on his wish-list.
Ronnow has been in a superb form for his current employers in the last few months and is a household name in his country. He is a special goalkeeper with excellent reflexes, makes notable judgments whilst dealing with the attacking endeavours of the opposition, possesses a top notch attribute of dealing well with one-vs-one situations and distributes the ball well too.
Nottingham Forest had placed a bid of £2.3million, but at this stroke of the hour, Alexander Zorniger has rejected the bid as he is still reluctant to see the Dane go for anything short of £3million. However, to dampen the hopes of the former Rangers manager, Ronnow has stated that he will not be making a move to Nottingham Forest, thus leaving the English outfit with disappointment and agony, for he could have been a very good signing.
