Tottenham Hotspur had a mixed start to their season, having lost one, drawn one and won one of their first three matches. While their first match was a winning one against Newcastle United, the next one saw them go down fighting valiantly against Chelsea by 2-1 at Wembley. And then, it was the disappointment in the ending minutes at their home ground, when Burnley striker Chris Wood made it 1-1 from close range denying the Spurs their second win of the season.
However, the North London club are looking to bounce back from that despair and are looking forward to bringing some solidarity to their defence, so that they can get themselves back to winning ways without any more late goof-ups. In order to achieve that, they have brought in a young defender in the form of Juan Foyth from Argentinian club Estudiantes.
Foyth is one of the many talented players who have been eyed by Spurs in the summer and was destined to become a part of their lineup sooner or later.
The confirmation of the defender, who has been termed as one of the best in the business at a very young age, arriving at the North London club this summer has brought some smiles to the Spurs’ faces, who have already added a top class defender like Davinson Sanchez to their ranks a few days ago.
The 19-year-old has been the epitome of strength of determination, back at his former club Estudiantes, and is touted to become one of the great players for his country in the near future. Belonging to a nation which has always been famous for its attackers, the player chose to walk on the less travelled route and become a top class star in the defence for the Argentine side.
He proved his decision to be completely right in the last few years by displaying awesome skills in the backline, helping keep the opponent strikers at bay and keeping his goal safe from rival attacks.
Known for his rock solid presence in defence and his ability to fend away the opposition players with his immense physicality, the 19-year-old defender can be the answer to the recent woes at the Spurs’ backline.
They will definitely be looking to use him as soon as possible to solidify their squad and make sure they don’t let the opponents walk away with points, especially on their home turf in the forthcoming matches. Is Foyth a decent addition to the squad under Pochettino?
