Rangers came out from their trip to the Global Energy Stadium with all three points, as they clinched a 3-1 victory over Ross County on Sunday. Courtesy of a brace from Alfredo Morelos in the first half, the Gers commenced their second half with a 2-0 lead.
The home side did try to come back into the game as Craig Curran’s juicy cross from the right proved to be perfect for Thomas Mikkelsen to head the ball past Wes Foderingham which minimized Rangers’ lead. However, the game was put to bed by Eduardo Herrera who buried the ball into the net in the dying minutes, to take the game away from the Staggies.
Here are our Rangers player ratings from their win against Ross County.
Wes Foderingham 6.5/10
The custodian was hardly tested in the first half and in the second half, he had no chance to deny Mikkelsen. Not too bad a day at the office.
James Tavernier 7.5/10
He assisted Morelos for the opening goal and contributed heavily to the offensive endeavours of the Glasgow giants. He was shrewd with his movements and piled a lot of pressure on Ross County’s defensive line.
Fabio Cardoso 6/10
Cardoso was erratic at times and the decisions he made were questionable more often than not. Lucky to be on the winning side.
Bruno Alves 6.5/10
The Portuguese was dominant in the air and kept the defensive personnel together, which enabled his side to work as a unit.
Lee Wallace 7/10
Like Tavernier, Wallace ran up and down the sidelines and showed great intent in going forward. He teed up well with Herrera to give the Teddy Bears their third goal.
Daniel Candeias 6.5/10
The newcomer was good in his movements and read the game well, but faded-away considerably in the second half.
Graham Dorrans 7.5/10
Dorrans kept things tidy in the middle and pushed Rangers’ attack forward. He maintained possession well and was exemplary with his driving runs into the box.
Ryan Jack 7/10
He linked-up well with Dorrans and his strong physical presence allowed the visitors to have an upper hand in the midfield area.
Niko Kranjcar 6.5/10
Placed on the left wing, he drifted inside occasionally and used the ball well in the first half. However, his efforts dried up later on in the game.
Kenny Miller 5.5/10
The veteran failed to muster the right passes and wasted some good opportunities which saw him replaced just after the hour mark.
Alfredo Morelos 8.5/10
Morelos toiled really hard and was rightfully rewarded with two goals to his name. He proved to be a constant threat to Jim McIntyre’s side, who had no answer to his movement in the final third.
Substitutions:
Eduardo Herrera 6.5/10
Replaced Miller and had 30 minutes to make an impact, which he actually made by sealing the game.
Carlos Pena 4/10
Replaced Kranjcar but it was evident that he lacks match fitness.
Jordan Rossiter 5/10
Rossiter was brought on after Morelos was pulled out and he did make some decent tackles during the ten minutes he was handed on the night.
