With a couple of wins and losses each and a draw, it would be safe to state that Championship outfit Derby County haven’t started their new season in an appealing manner. The Rams are arguably seen as one of the sides expected to make a challenge for earning a playoff spot and they should be deriving better results in order to bolster their chances of promotion.
Under the tutelage of Garry Rowett, Derby County have basically strengthened their defence as they have acquired the services of Andre Wisdom, Tom Huddlestone and Curtis Davis. For the long and tiresome season up ahead, Rowett is expected to make a deal or two in order to beef up his attacking arsenal before the curtains of the summer transfer window fall.
Apparently, reports have surfaced that Derby County have emerged as one of the contenders to sign Brighton & Hove Albion’s striker Tomer Hemed, who is also on the radar of two other Championship sides in the shapes of Reading and Leeds United. The Seagulls carved an exceptional return back to the top flight after ages, courtesy to the second-place finish last season in the English second division which earned them an automatic promotion.
Chris Hughton has made some shrewd signings in the ongoing summer transfer window, although they couldn’t strike a deal to sign FC Zurich’s hitman Raphael Dwamena. Owing to the same, Hemed might be valued by his current employers who wouldn’t sell him for cheap, or rather try to keep him on their books, the testament of which could be derived from a report which stated that earlier this summer, a bid of £4million from the Royals was rejected.
Hemed emerged through the youth ranks of Maccabi Haifa and then went on to represent their senior side. Spanish side Mallorca then lured him to their ranks and then, he moved to Almeria for a season before making a move to the Amex Stadium. His spells have been fairly productive and there are some notable reasons as to why Derby County are attempting to make him sign on the dotted line.
The Israel international is a decent figure up front who knows where the goal is. He gets into the scheme of things up front and has plenty of experience of English football. Besides, having helped Brighton in securing an automatic promotion spot last season, his entry could prove to be a galvanizing one to inject a positive mentality into Rowett’s squad.
