Manchester United will look to continue their fine start in the Premier League on Saturday when they host Leicester City at the Old Trafford. The Foxes have won one and lost another in the season so far but have started the campaign with confidence.
United have faced West Ham United and Swansea City in the first two games and the Foxes could be said as the first real challenge for the Red Devils as Craig Shakespeare’s side are looking in better shape than the above-mentioned teams.
Team News
Manchester United- Manchester United would continue to be without left back Luke Shaw and centre half Marcos Rojo at the back. Shaw was seen along with winger Ashely Young in United’s Under-23 game against Swansea City on Monday evening and would look to return in a few days. Rojo has returned to training as he continues to recover from his knee problem.
Leicester City- The biggest scare for the Foxes would be the uncertainty of Harry Maguire. The new arrival has been significant for Shakespeare’s side so far and with Robert Huth still injured with an injured ankle, his services will come in handy. Leicester City had to indulge in a midweek fixture against Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup and would remain a bit tired.
Among the absentees remain midfielders Danny Drinkwater and new arrival Vicente Iborra. While former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is a doubt with a toe injury for the game.
Predicted Lineup
Manchester United- De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Blind; Pogba Matic; Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Mata; Lukaku
Leicester City- Schmeichel; Fuchs, Maguire, Morgan Simpson; Albrighton, Ndidi, James, Mahrez; Okazaki, Vardy
Key Players
Manchester United- The duo of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku has been unstoppable so far in the opening two games of the league and will remain United’s biggest weapons going into the game. Mkhitaryan has also provided four assists in two games would need a check. Although many had thought the Armenian wouldn’t flourish from the central position from where he doesn’t get to stretch the defence, he has done brilliantly to find spaces and lay on the ball for the deadly strikers ahead of him.
Leicester City- Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki remain their most important players without a doubt. While Vardy and Okazaki have both scored two goals so far, Mahrez has registered two assists already.
