Burnley have got their hands on one of the best strikers in English football in the form of New Zealand ace Chris Wood, whom they brought in last week after a lot of negotiations with the Championship side Leeds United. However, the Clarets are not looking to end their spending spree as of yet, with a few more days left till the closure of the transfer window and are willing to bring in Andrea Ranocchia from Inter Milan in order to strengthen their backline.
The Italian centre back has had his fair share of experience of playing in the English Premier League, having played for the second half of the last term for the now Championship side Hull City. He had performed quite well for the Tigers alongside Harry Maguire in the heart of their backline, but at the end failed to save his side from getting relegated from the top flight.
The 29-year-old is considered to be a surplus to requirements at San Siro, where he has returned on completion of his loan stay at Hull City. This has made the player look for other options where he can get regular starts under his belt in the forthcoming days and might probably be heading towards England once again to revive his career with Burnley.
The centre back is known for his rock solid presence at the heart of the defence, which he displayed during his brief stay with Hull City in the Premier League last season. He has the ability to clear dangerous balls coming in towards his team’s goal averting imminent danger and has also shown his class by going fearlessly into challenges and is thus considered to be a real menace for the rival players.
Burnley started their campaign in the Premier League in the best possible way by defeating the defending champions Chelsea in a nail biter. However, they could not keep their form intact in the second match of the campaign against West Bromwich Albion and went down by a single goal in a hard fought contest. The Clarets have lost their mainstay in defence in the form of English defender Michael Keane, who joined Everton in the summer and are looking forward to bring in someone like Ranocchia to fill in for him and strengthen their defence.
The inclusion of the Inter Milan defender must be a big boost for Burnley in the forthcoming days in the Premier League, as they look to turn the tables around this time and finish in a much better position in the league table than their last term’s finish in the 16th spot.
