Swansea City will try to move on from their heavy 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United and will be seeking some positive momentum when they travel to the Selhurst Park to face a determined Crystal Palace.
Frank de Boer’s side are currently in a difficult situation and Clement would like to pile more misery on them by trying to inflict a third straight defeat on the Eagles.
Predicted 3-5-2 Swansea City Lineup Against Crystal Palace
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski would like to forget the last match. The Polish international had a torrid afternoon at the Liberty Stadium as he shipped in four goals which must have shaken his confidence.
The game was pretty much even but a late flurry of goals sank the Swans. Paul Clement is likely to rely on his number one shot stopper once again.
A number of gaffers have been experimenting with the three man backline and it seems Clement has been pretty influenced by the system. The gaffer saw his defence crumble to a spirited United side in the last match but is unlikely to tweak much.
The trio of Federico Fernandez, Kyle Bartley and Alfie Mawson had contained the United side to a slim 1-0 lead but a lack of concentration exposed them pretty badly late on. Bartley is currently nursing an injury but is likely to get fit before the game.
Midfield
Clement used a five man midfield in the last match as he was trying to jam pack the midfield by crowding the centre of the pitch. Palace are known for their pressing game so we can expect the same formation from him.
Leroy Fer started the game in the centre of the pitch and he will be at the centre of attention against the Eagles. Roque Mesa does have the quality but he needs time to find his rhythm. He is expected to start in the midfield alongside Tom Carroll whose performance graph has been pretty encouraging.
Martin Olsson looked pretty lively on a number of occasions on the left flank and he would like to keep his good work going. Particularly his quality of crosses has been pretty intimidating and with Tammy Abraham in the side, Swansea’s scoring chances are likely to increase.
Kyle Naughton had a difficult last game would try to impress the gaffer once again.
Attack
Tammy Abraham has been pretty lively so far and will look to get off the mark.
Jordan Ayew will be giving him company.
