Newcastle United have not made a pretty start to their stint in the top flight this season as they failed to take a point, or even score a goal in the first two games of the campaign. Rafa Benitez, who lifted the league title last season in the second tier has made some decent additions to the squad but is still not happy with the options at his disposal and is active in the transfer market.
With less than 10 days left in the transfer market, he will have to work hard to lure top transfer targets to the club but who can Newcastle United sign before the deadline day? Here are three players Rafa Benitez should look to sign, even with the limited resources he has in his hand:
Lucas Perez (Arsenal):
The Spanish striker has not been able to establish himself in the first team last season and has failed to get even a minute of football so far in the Premier League. With Alexandre Lacazette’s addition, Arsenal have a plethora of strikers at the moment and will not need Perez on a regular basis. The former La Coruna man is an excellent finisher, tailor made for the English game and has been linked with a move to Newcastle United on loan already. Rafa should look to sign him up before the deadline day.
Dennis Praet (Sampdoria):
The first two games of the season showed a number of flaws in the first team of the squad under Benitez. They failed to create enough chances to test the opponents consistently and were unable to control the midfield or the tempo.
They lack a creative midfielder who can make things happen in the final third and one player that they should look at is Belgium youngster Dennis Praet. Known for his slick footwork, Praet would probably walk into the first team and has extensively been linked with a move to the club recently. He will be a sensational addition for the Magpies this summer.
Andy Carroll (West Ham United):
The arrival of Javier Hernandez will leave West Ham with too many options in attack and they might look to get rid of one of two and Newcastle United could benefit from this overhaul. They have been linked with a move for English striker Andy Carroll for a move this summer. Having already worked under Rafa Benitez previously at Anfield, Carroll will be ready to take on the responsibility of goal scoring at the St James’ and could be a game-changing signing for Newcastle.
