Stoke City have clinched their first victory of the season 1-0, as they saw off a resilient Arsenal side who visited them last weekend. The solo goal of the match came from the foot of their new recruit Jese Rodriguez, who was brought in last week from the French giants Paris Saint Germain on a season-long loan.
The Potters are now looking to keep the momentum they have received from beating one of the top teams in the Premier League intact and get positive results in the forthcoming matches as well. However, their manager Mark Hughes is worried about the composition of his team and might be looking to bring a few more player in order to provide his side with the much-required impetus for the season that has just begun.
The Welshman is eyeing a number of prospective players, with one name right on the top of the list in the form of Stefano Sturaro, who is currently playing for the Italian giants Juventus in the Serie A. It goes without saying that the bid looks to be a very ambitious one but Hughes is looking to make it happen and get his team a top-class player to stabilise the midfield in the forthcoming days.
Sturaro is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the current situation and has attracted the attention of a number of clubs in the Premier League as well as other outfits from all over Europe. Despite his good form, the Italian enforcer has not been able to see much of the action in the recent times and has made only 21 appearances for his team in the last term. The situation doesn’t seem to change much, with Juventus already having a player like the German midfielder Sami Khedira in their ranks.
This has irked a considerable amount of interest among a number of clubs in the Premier League, who are looking to bag the player for this season. However, Stoke City is looking the most desperate to land the player with only a few more days remaining to the closure of the transfer window, so as to strengthen their midfield, which has not been playing as per expectation so far in the current season.
Mark Hughes is well aware of the fact that the onus is on him to deliver this season after the team finished in a lowly 13th position in the last term in the league table. It will definitely be a big boost for the Welsh tactician and his team if they can bring in Sturaro to play for them this summer.
