Newcastle United started their Premier League campaign after a comeback into the top flight, having missed out due to relegation in the last term. The start, however, was not a very good one, as the Magpies found it difficult to cope with the brilliance of Tottenham in their very first match of the new campaign and went down by 2-0 and then followed it up with another disappointing loss away to Huddersfield Town.
The Toon boss Rafa Benitez has been concerned about his side’s performance in the forthcoming weeks as he has not got enough top-class players at his disposal, which is definitely going to be a detriment for the Magpies to get a strong foothold in the Premier League. As a result, the Spaniard is looking to bring in some new players in his team within the next few days, before the transfer window comes to a close for this summer.
One player, who has been eyed by the Newcastle boss Benitez for the new season, is the Belgian youngster Dennis Praet, currently featuring in the Serie A for Sampdoria. The 23-year-old has been in good form of late and is considered as one of the top players in a central midfield position in the Italian league.
A player of his quality can be a real good addition to any Premier League outfit, helping to stabilise the midfield and also keep possession of the ball for a significant amount of time. The young midfielder has risen through the ranks playing for the Belgian outfit Anderlecht over the last few years, before making a move to the Serie A in search of new challenges in the year 2016.
Praet has made 35 appearances so far for the Italian outfit and has fared very well with the top-class opponents in his very first season in Italy, attracting a number of clubs from all over Europe to bag him for the new season. Newcastle United are also looking to bring in the player for the new season in order to overcome their problems in the midfield and help them to bring back the glory days.
Benitez is well aware of the fact that it will be a very tough test for them to keep their place in the top-flight with the set of players he has at his disposal, with the squad not looking good enough to take on the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool. The situation being gloomy for the Magpies, the inclusion of someone like Praet can bolster the team to perform well in the forthcoming days of this season.
