Aston Villa are finding it hard to find their feet in the Championship this season and having a legendary figure like John Terry has not yet worked for the Villans, as they have already conceded 6 goals in their opening three fixtures.
The man in charge at the Villa Park, Steve Bruce, has been looking to add to the ranks of the team a new midfielder in the form of the English international Jack Colback, who is currently a part of the Newcastle United squad.
The 27-year-old has been a part of the Toon squad since his arrival at St James’ Park in 2014 and has appeared on 102 occasions till date for them. The Magpies manager Rafa Benitez has, however, not been impressed with his efforts in recent times and has told him that he is not a part of his plans for the new season, which the Magpies will be playing in the Premier League.
This has irked interest among a series of clubs in the Championship including Aston Villa, who are currently in dire straits and are lacking depth in every department on the field, especially the midfield. The Villans are hopeful that the English international can be a good addition to the side and give them the much-needed impetus to get some positive results under their belt in the forthcoming matches.
The 27-year-old has a huge amount of experience in the Championship as well as top-flight and has represented clubs like Sunderland and Newcastle United in his career so far. Appearing for the Black Cats on 135 occasions, the player made a good impression as a hard working midfielder under the tutelage of the current Aston Villa gaffer Steve Bruce, who handed him his first start in the Premier league in 2010.
Known for his cool head and composed attitude on the pitch, Colback has been suited to the role of a central midfielder throughout his career. He also has the quality to keep possession of the ball for a significant period of time and go into hard hitting tackles to get the ball off the opponents. He can also take aim at the goal from a long range outside the box, which can spell trouble for any goalkeeper. He is known to score goals using his head from set piece situations as well.
Aston Villa are well aware of the fact that the competition is going to get much harder in the forthcoming days and to strengthen their side in the new season, they will require someone like Colback to be a part of the team.
