If reports are to be believed then Liverpool have reignited their interest in Turkey’s latest sensation Yusuf Yazici as Jurgen Klopp doesn’t seem to be able to refrain from adding more attacking targets up front. The 20-year-old has been of interest to both the Merseyside clubs with the Reds and Everton, who had apparently sent scouts to watch him as Trabzonspor beat Konyaspor over the weekend.
Liverpool have started their domestic season with a frustrating draw against Watford on the opening day, which could have gone in a positive direction but for their clueless defence. The Reds had found themselves on the backfoot twice throughout the game and when they managed to edge past the Hornets eventually, they conceded a last-minute equalizer.
The Reds are currently playing without their star player Phillipe Coutinho who is recovering from a back injury at the moment, who would either return from it late this month or take a flight to Barcelona as things stand likely. Although Liverpool have sufficient players to take his place like Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana and more, Yazici would be adding more competition to the side.
After adding Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah to their attack already, Yazici would expect to be a regular in their domestic cup competitions. But Jurgen Klopp is known for giving chances to young talent and Trent Arnold and Ben Woodburn are clear examples of it. Yazici could fancy breaking into the first team if he keeps his performances consistent.
Birthed by Turkish giants Trabzon, Yazici has been at the club since his childhood before he broke into the first team in 2015. Although he hasn’t been a regular for them, given his nascent age, he has managed six goals in 24 appearances. Turkish football system rates him very highly and he remains one of the most exciting stars in the domestic circuit of the country.
Although he is yet to prove his talent at the highest level, his game playing style and movements have many believing in his talents. Premier League, Ligue1 and Eredivisie giants- Arsenal, PSV, Manchester United and Lyon– have all been showing a keen interest in the player.
The club is unwilling to let go of him for obvious reason and have even rejected two bids worth £7 million so far. Klopp is seemingly impressed by him and his versatility could be the key to his arrival at the club. An attacking midfielder by nature, Yazici can also play from the flanks as well as a shadow striker.
His late runs make him ideal for Klopp’s gegenpressing tactics with strength and quality in the perfect amount. He is also a great finisher though some polishing would be required for sure.
