Swansea City started their campaign in the Premier League this term with a goalless draw against Southampton and are set to face the present league leaders Manchester United in their next match. Manchester United are fresh from a victory in their last match, which was also their opening fixture, in which they demolished West Ham United 4-0 to earn their first three points of the season.
The Swans are set to face a major drawback in the next few days, as their talismanic attacker Gylfi Sigurdsson has supposedly agreed on a deal with fellow Premier League side Everton and is set to arrive at Finch farm for his medical. The Icelandic player has been a major boost for the Welsh club throughout the last season, as he scored nine goals and set up eleven more for his teammates in order to save them from entering the relegation zone.
With a resurgent Manchester United coming to the Liberty Stadium to play their next game, the Swans will be depending on their home advantage to see them through in their second matchup of the season. Swansea’s gaffer Paul Clement is quite wary of the limited firepower they have at their disposal but would like to see his team put up an inspiring fight against the Red Devils to earn some points from the game.
Defence-
The defence played well in the last match against the Saints and helped Fabianski keep a clean sheet. The likes of Alfie Mawson, Federico Fernandez and Kyle Naughton played well to hold the backline together and not let any of the Southampton strikers score in the match. However, Manchester United have one of the strongest attacks in the Premier League and it will not be easy for the Swansea players to contain them from scoring.
Midfield-
Swansea used three men in the midfield in the form of Leon Britton, Leroy Fer and Tom Carroll, which helped to stabilise the midfield against the Saints. However, they will have to give much more effort in order to make it work against a flamboyant Manchester United side.
Attack-
The attack did not feature Gylfi Sigurdsson, who might have played his last game for the Swans in the last season it seems. The trio of Andre Ayew, Wayne Routledge and Tammy Abraham led the attack for the Swans in their last match, and are expected to the same in their next match as well. Though not as impactful as the Icelandic attacker, English youngster Tammy Abraham showed glimpses of his brilliance in a Swansea jersey, after being brought on loan in the summer from Stamford Bridge.
