After having a miserable season in the Premier League last term, Burnley have started this season in the best possible way, by beating the defending champions Chelsea by 3-2 in their opening fixture of the campaign, stunning the whole football fraternity and once again establishing the unpredictability of the Premier League.
Already having a cool and composed player like Sam Vokes in their ranks, who led the charge for the Clarets in their emphatic win against the Blues, Burnley coach Sean Dyche is looking to add to his attacking propositions for the forthcoming matches and is poised to make a move for the Leeds United striker Chris Wood in the ongoing transfer market.
The New Zealand ace was prolific in the last term and has been playing a very important role for them in the Championship. He has been in a very good form of late and showed his brilliance throughout the last season by scoring 27 goals for his team. However, lack of support from his teammates has been a demoralising factor for the striker, as his performance was not enough to book a place for his team in the Championship play-offs last term.
The move to Premier League is definitely going to be a big one for the player, who is known for his amazing skills and physical presence on the pitch, making it difficult for the defenders to contain him from scoring goals on a regular basis. The Clarets are looking to take advantage of his phenomenal form in the current season, as they look to bring in someone good enough to replace their departed English marksman Andre Gray, who joined fellow Premier League side Watford last week.
However, Leeds United might not be interested to let go of their prized possession and will be looking to keep him with them in the new season as well, to make sure that his form carries them into the playoffs this term, giving them a chance to head back into the top flight once again after a long gap of 14 years.
Sean Dyche, the man in charge at Turf Moor, is looking to test the resolve of the Elland Road club with a big bid for the New Zealand international and might make it within a few days. He might be looking to bring in the player into his side as soon as possible to make sure that they can continue to perform throughout the season like the way they did in their first match against the current Premier League champions.
