Burnley are ready to break the bank for Deportivo La Coruna striker Florin Andone. Sean Dyche was shell shocked over Andre Gray’s decision to join fellow rivals, Watford. Burnley have received to the tune of £18m for the player and want to facilitate a transfer for Andone with that cash.
The Clarets surprised everyone by getting a shock win over defending Champions Chelsea in the opening fixture with Sam Vokes netting a brace. But keeping in mind the long hectic season, the gaffer has been looking for some alternative options to provide the much-needed depth. The Clarets had two offers knocked back for Leeds United striker Chris Wood and Dyche is ready to test his back up options in the transfer market.
The Clarets have reportedly submitted a bid for £11.8m for the Romanian front man. Sean Dyche is not entirely ready to give up his pursuit of Wood who lit up the Championship last season.
The gaffer is reportedly ready to test Leeds’ resolve with an improved bid of £20m and is also monitoring the movement of the Romanian forward as a backup option. Having arrived from Cordoba, the 24-year-old had a pretty eventful season as he netted 12 goals for the La Liga side last term.
Andone’s future could depend on Lucas Perez’s whereabouts. The Arsenal forward’s struggle at the Emirates Stadium is clearly visible and he wants to end the frustrating spell with a move to his former club. Deportivo are mulling an option to revive their interest in the star and if Perez moves to Spain it would enhance Burnley’s chances of landing their target.
Andone, who has 15 caps for Romania, could be Dyche’s fifth signing of this summer. Watford have earlier been linked with the striker but as of now, Burnley have a clearer shot.
Thomas Christiansen is pretty confident Woods won’t move this summer, though. The New Zealand international struck 30 times for the Whites last season although they couldn’t make it to the playoffs following some poor form in the crucial juncture last season.
Following the rise in the moolah involved in the television deal and Premier League prize money, even the smaller clubs are trying their best to somehow survive in the top tier to get a lucrative chunk of the cash on offer.
Burnley have already splashed the cash as they spent £10m to bring Jack Cork from Swansea and Dyche is ready to break the bank once again. Andon could be a potential strike partner for Vokes who already caught the attention with his triumphant display in their season opener.
