Everton are fresh from a win in their opening fixture in the Premier League against Stoke City, with their comeback hero and English captain Wayne Rooney scoring the only goal of the match with a belting header to find the back of the net. They are now ready to play their next match against the Croatian side Hajduk Split in order to book a place in the Europa League for the new season.
The Merseyside club have brought in a number of new players in order to revamp their side, keeping in mind the fact that they will be facing some of the best clubs in Europe in this year’s Europa League competition. The team seems to be gelling together and the players are showing their good form on the pitch to bring joy to the club so far in the pre-season matches as well as in the domestic competitions.
The Toffees will look to win the two legged affair as well, which will be played on the 17th and the 24th of August respectively, and will depend on the following players in order to affirm a place in the UEFA Europa League this season-
Wayne Rooney-
The English captain made a comeback to his childhood club, from where he started his journey to become one of the living legends of modern day football, in the summer after spending more than a decade at Old Trafford and making it past Sir Bobby Charlton as the all time top scorer for the Red Devils. He is undoubtedly in good form in the current season, having scored in the pre-season friendlies as well as in his first match for Everton in the Premier League and will look to carry on with it in the next match as well to get his team in the Europa League this season.
Davy Klaassen-
The Dutch playmaker was in good form in the last term, leading Ajax into the final of the Europa League against Manchester United and has been looking solid in the midfield so far this season. The Toffees will bank on him to get them past their Croatian opponents in the next match with his experience in European football from a good last season.
Michael Keane-
The English defender looked to be in good form in the last match against Stoke City, stabilizing the Everton backline and helping his team to keep the one goal advantage intact throughout the match. It will be expected of him to do the same in the next match as well and lead his team into the Europa League for this season.
