Despite repeated attempts, Real Madrid have failed to lure David de Gea from Manchester United. The Spanish shot stopper has emerged as one of the excellent goal keepers in the European circuit and has been in magnificent form for the Red Devils.
There has barely been an off day for the Spanish international as he has rescued United on many occasions. Madrid had almost signed the player back in 2015 but a certain fax machine saved the day for the English outfit and the 26-year-old went on to prove his authority in the Premier League.
But if reports are to be believed Real have not entirely given up hope as they are eyeing the keeper in the next season. Gareth Bale has been a long term target for the Red Devils and the Welsh wizard has been linked with a move to Old Trafford a number of times.
Real president Florentino Perez is considering a late move for the keeper in the next summer after the season gets over and is hoping to have some good fortune that time. He is ready to offer Bale as bait in this move to sweeten the deal.
Keylor Navas has been in tremendous form but he will be turning 31 in a few months time and Real have been eyeing to build a squad that boasts of young talents. Madrid are thought to have ended their interest in the Spaniard but they are ready to wait for a year.
The 26-year-old has dethroned Iker Casillas as the Spain No.1 and has established himself pretty comfortably in the national squad. With the World Cup looming large, he will be hoping to get some regular game time.
Despite all the heroics, Navas has never been on the same level as De Gea who could be an imminent replacement for the Costa Rican international. Perez has been pushing to force a move for De Gea but Zidane is adamant to keep his keeper at Santiago Bernabeu.
With all the possible up comings, De Gea shouldn’t worry about his future as he has a very secure life at Old Trafford. United invested a lot in the last few years to build a squad capable of winning silverware and De Gea will be a key member of that squad.
With Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in the squad, United don’t need to rush for Bale who has had his injury concerns since his move to Spain. So Real do not look like they can land De Gea anytime soon.
