With the transfer window inching towards its business end, every club has stepped up a gear in their dealings. After surviving the relegation scare last season, Paul Clement has already added a couple of names to the squad at Swansea and is now looking towards adding some more players after their start to the campaign.
According to reports, Swansea are targeting a reunion with former front man Wilfried Bony. The Ivorian has been put up for sale by Pep Guardiola and the Wales side is ready to crack a deal for the player.
Bony was once a superstar at the Liberty Stadium until his move to the Etihad in 2015 which turned out to be a disaster. The 28-year-old has been struggling to get into the groove and was shipped on loan to Stoke City last season in a hope to rebuild his career.
But he endured a similar fate at the BET365 Stadium as he barely had an encouraging moment on the pitch for the Potters. Pep Guardiola has sanctioned a mass clear out as he is eyeing to trim his squad in a bid to better their chances this season and Bony’s chances to stay at the club are looking very slim at this moment.
City paid in the range of £30m for the player but are ready to do business for a cut price deal. The Sky Blues are looking for around £12m as they are freeing some funds after investing so heavily in the summer.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is on the verge of leaving the Liberty Stadium and The Swans are due to get a hefty amount of money for his move, which could facilitate Bony’s transfer. Borja Baston has left the club for Malaga on loan and there is a big chance the player might opt to stay there permanently.
Wages should not be a concern for the Welsh side who have sufficient funds to afford his move. Swansea had a bid of £10m rejected a few days ago and they have been told to up their offer to have a shot at the player.
City are very keen to part ways with the player and are trying to smoothen the transfer process. Swansea recently clinched a loan deal for Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham and with Fernando Llorente’s future in doubt, Bony could be the ideal partner for the youngster.
Bony is very keen to revive his career and Liberty Stadium could be an ideal platform to do so. But is he the right man for the club?
