Newcastle United will be playing their first match in the Premier League after a season long gap from the top flight, as the Magpies were relegated in the season prior to the last one to the Championship. However, they came out as winners in their last season in the second tier and made their way back into the Premier League and they will be taking on a resurgent Tottenham Hotspur squad in their comeback match on Sunday.
Tottenham, who will start their campaign as one of the favourites to lift the trophy this season, will be looking to notch up their first win of the season playing away from home against a not so strong Newcastle United side. The Spurs finished the last term in the Premier League in the second position due to some late goof-ups in the tournament and will be looking to make amends for them and win the league this season.
Team News-
Newcastle United-
The Magpies don’t have any major issues ahead of their comeback clash in the Premier League and will be looking to repeat their performance from their last match in the Premier League, which saw these two teams play against each other and Newcastle thrashing their opponents by 5-1. New recruits like Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo, Mikel Merino, Christian Atsu and Jacob Murphy all have minor knocks but are fit enough to play in their team’s first match in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham Hotspur-
The same cannot be said about the Spurs, as they are dealing with a number of injury concerns that include their first choice left back Danny Rose(Knee), midfielder Erik Lamela(hips), Georges Kevin-Nkoudou(foot) and first choice right back Kieran Trippier(ankle), who are all set to miss their first match of the season in the Premier League. Korean star Heung Min-Son might not start the proceedings for Tottenham despite being fit.
