After their shocking exit from Europa League at the hands of Luxembourg minnows Progres Niederkorn, Rangers’ troops have started to get together and work as a unit, the testaments of which can be derived from their draw with Marseille and wins against Watford and Sheffield Wednesday. The Gers have kicked off their domestic season in a decent manner as well, having clinched a 1-2 win against Motherwell and a splendid 6-0 victory against Dunfermline Athletic.
Under the tutelage of Pedro Caixinha, Rangers have been very busy this summer in their recruitment process and have made many signings already. The main motto of the Light Blues is to really set themselves up as a formidable domestic package and genuinely challenge for silverware. They are due to host Hibernian this weekend in what promises to be an exciting fixture, considering that the Hibs have also started their season in a commendable manner with a 3-1 win against Partick Thistle in the league and a 5-0 victory over Ayr United in the League Cup.
Here is how we anticipate the Glasgow giants to dish out their starting line-up at the Ibrox Stadium:
Defence
At the heart of the defence, we anticipate that Caixinha will deploy the resilient duo of Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso to start the proceedings. With these two in their line-up, Rangers have found the element of reliability and assurance and this enables the midfielders to maraud forward.
In the right-back slot, we expect Lee Hodson to start, whereas, in the left-back sector, Lee Wallace should be given the nod by the former Al-Gharafa boss to complete his defensive setup. Between the sticks, Wes Foderingham should be stationed to be the custodian.
Midfield
Against Neil Lennon’s outfit, we expect Caixinha to engineer four midfielders, with Josh Windass on the left-wing, while the right-wing place is seemingly likely to be handed to Daniel Candeias. In the middle of the park, Ryan Jack and Graham Dorrans are expected to start. There have been goals coming from the midfielders and it is really riveting to see the same and the same will go a long way in ensuring they sustain their League campaign.
Attack
A lot would depend upon the flair which the Rangers’ poachers put on offer this season. Up front against the Hibees, Caixinha is expected to use the duo of Kenny Miller and Alfredo Morelos, as the pair banged three goals in the League Cup and are really looking good together.
Predicted Line-Up:
Foderingham
Hodson -Cardoso-Alves-Wallace
Candeias-Jack-Dorrans-Windass
Miller-Morelos
