Manchester United are easily one of the strongest sides in the new campaign but Jose Mourinho will know for experience that he can do with all the depth he can acquire, to compete on all four fronts this season. They have already added some quality first team stars to their squad but the Portuguese manager is busy trying to scout for players who can add that extra flair to their side.
One such player who is now linked with a move back to Manchester United is Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The former PSG and Barcelona striker was the leading goal scorer for the Red Devils last season but an ACL injury late last season meant that he will not be fit to play any kind of football at least till the turn of the year.
This saw Mourinho refrain from offering him a contract extension, leaving him a free-agent. However, Zlatan is now stepping up his recovery process and might be a huge asset in the second half of the campaign for any of the top clubs in Europe and Mourinho has now confirmed that Manchester United have opened talks to offer him a new deal.
Also wanted by AC Milan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the best strikers and the most prolific goal scorers ever in the game and has played in almost every top league in Europe. He has won the Italian Serie A, Spanish Primera and the French Ligue 1 titles but failed to lift the Premier League title in his first season at Old Trafford.
Though not as mobile as he used to be, the 35-year old showed that he still has what it takes to be a success at the highest stage and picked up 26 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils. He may not be able to add pace and mobility to the front line but definitely, give goals and creativity to the side even at this age.
He is a fit athlete who showed no signs of fatigue last season when fit and there is no reason why Manchester United should think twice before offering him a new deal.
Newbie Romelu Lukaku is not new to the Premier League but he will be a huge gamble in the Champions League, where he does not have much experience. He may help them get through the group stages but United will need a talismanic figure in attack for the knockout games against the top sides and this is where Zlatan will be an important player.
Italian giants AC Milan will not make life easy for Manchester United but Jose Mourinho should do all it takes to tie him to the club till the end of this season.
