Swansea City had a miserable season, to say the least in their last term and are looking forward to turning the tables in this season. They are making attempts to bring in new and younger players into the team and use their pace and exuberance to accelerate them towards finishing in a better position than that of the last season, which saw them ending in the 17th spot.
The Swans have brought in only two players this season in the form of Roque Mesa from Las Palmas and Cian Harries from League Two side Coventry City. Reportedly, Paul Clement, the man in charge at the Liberty Stadium is looking forward to making it a third signing, as he intends to raid non-League side Leamington to avail the services of their teenage striker Courtney Baker-Richardson.
The 17-year-old has attracted the eyes of a number of clubs in the Championship as well as the Premier League, having played some great football in the last few months. He has good pace coupled with a sharp shooting ability, which makes him one of the best young prospects. He is also known to make darting runs into the heart of the opposition defence and get the ball into the back of the net both from long as well as close range.
An Academy graduate from Coventry City, the teenage sensation has been already under the scanner of a number of sides in the Premier League including the likes of Swansea City and Leicester City. However, it seems that the Swans have already won the battle over their Premier League rivals, the Foxes, having offered a two-year long deal to the 17-year-old.
The youngster has come under the spotlight, having scored 17 goals in 28 games for the non-league side Leamington in the last term. His brilliant runs with and without the ball, his ability to win the ball in the aerial duels against his opponents and his physical presence in the heart of the opposing defence might turn out to be good enough for the Swans to get him in the first team from the very start of the new season.
The Premier League side might be on the verge of losing one of their mainstays in the attack in the form of Gylfi Sigurdsson, with Everton looking to sign him for the new season. The signing of Baker-Richardson might give them the much-needed relief right before the start of the term.
