Having won the Premier League in the last season, Chelsea will be facing the challenge to maintain their composure and strong run in the new season as well and defend their title successfully. They will also have to face some of the biggest teams in Europe and will need to bring in a few players who can make their side even stronger.
The West London club have already spent a good sum of money to rope in players like Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Alvaro Morata. However, they are still looking concerned about their midfield and are making attempts to bring in a player who can be a viable cover on the right-hand side of the midfield for their winger Moses.
The Blues are reportedly eyeing one of the top midfielders in the current scenario in European football in the form of Sergi Roberto from the Spanish club Barcelona to be added to their roster for the new season. The midfielder is a real livewire on the right wing for the Catalan club and will no doubt be a good option for the Premier League champions to be used in their 3-4-3 combination implemented by the Italian coach Antonio Conte.
The young Spaniard has made his way through the ranks in the Barcelona squad and has been one of the most important players in the team. Last season, he made a good contribution to the team while playing on the right-hand side of the midfield, having played as a midfielder as well as a wing back.
He also made it possible for the Blaugrana to come out on top of their opponents Paris Saint Germain in one of the most enthralling matches of the last term in the Champions League, which they won by 6-5, scoring right before the last whistle of the match, putting his team into the quarter final.
The 25-year-old has played 152 matches so far for the former Spanish La Liga champions since his arrival at Nou Camp in 2013. He has been one of the most trustworthy players in the central midfield in Europe and has the ability to turn defence into offence, initiating counter attacks on the opposition goal and also chipping in with the occasional goal.
Chelsea, who lost their very first competitive match of this season in the form of the FA Community Shield on Sunday, might be much interested in signing the Spanish youngster in the summer to stabilise their midfield and give their attack a much needed helping hand.
