Chelsea have been looking forward to continuing their dominating run in the next term as well, as they will be looking to defend their Premier League title with all their capability. For that, they are eyeing a number of players to be brought into the team for this term.
They have already acquired some of the top players from the big name clubs of Europe in the form of Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko and will be more than happy to add some more quality players to their roster before the transfer window closes in a few weeks.
The Blues had also tried their hand at bringing in the Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk from his current club Southampton only to face rejection from the South Coast club.
However, with the centre back now saying that he is looking for a transfer to one of the big name clubs to continue his career in the Premier League, the situation is again looking bright for the West London club as they are willing to make a bid for the defender to bring him to the Stamford Bridge.
Reportedly, the Dutchman has demanded the Saints to let go of him in the current transfer window, which has angered the team management and he has been ordered to train alone until the situation is resolved. The man in charge of the Saints, Mauricio Pellegrino, has also confirmed that Van Dijk is willing to make a move out of the South Coast club this summer.
Chelsea, who already have a very strong defensive line-up at their disposal, are looking to add the Dutchman to their squad to strengthen it for the next term. It is going to be a tough season for the Blues, as they will be facing some of the best clubs from Europe in the UEFA Champions League, and have to be prepared for every situation, including player injuries, which might be a common possibility for almost every team. So the addition of a player like Van Dijk will be more than welcome by the current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
The Dutchman has been linked with almost every big name club in the Premier League, including Liverpool, who were accused by Southampton to have tried to tap their player without any prior notice. However, the Merseyside club publicly apologised for the incident, having infuriated the South Coast club management and their fans. They are not in a strong position to land the defender but should Chelsea look to hijack this deal?
