Newly appointed manager Marco Silva has already made a number of exciting signings in this summer to see a complete overhaul of the squad. The Portuguese gaffer was at the charge of Hull City last season but failed to keep the club afloat in the Premier League.
At one time, everybody hoped that the manager will be able to save the club from getting a drop but their miserable form proved to be a throng as they got demoted to the second tier. Silva has been appointed by Watford as the Hornets parted ways with Walter Mazzarri a few months ago.
The Portuguese boss is still active in the transfer market and according to reports, Watford have enquired about a possible transfer for Alberto Moreno. The Spaniard has been a fringe figure at Anfield in the last season as Jurgen Klopp mostly deployed James Milner as a makeshift left back throughout the season.
Liverpool recently brought in Andy Robertson from Hull City and Moreno’s days could be numbered in the upcoming season. Signed from Sevilla in 2014 the left back never looked like a Liverpool player as he endured a very tough time at the Anfield for the last few season.
Despite his repetitive failure, Klopp remained confident in the 25-year-old and the player repaid his faith with some excellent performances in the pre-season. He was particularly brilliant in the 3-0 win against Bayern Munich and the Spaniard could really have a chance to reignite his Reds career.
The left back was supposed to be the first choice but given the current scenario, he could be in line to make a start against Watford in the opening match of the next season. Moreno’s ravishing pace makes him one of the best marauding full-backs in the Premier League but defensively he is quite weak and his knack of getting into unnecessary fouls has been a problem for him and his side.
Napoli came calling with a bid of £11m for the Spanish defender but saw their bid knocked back as The Reds are looking to recover most of the fee paid for him. Watford have Jose Holebas as the preferred choice in the left back position but Silva wants more depth on that position and Moreno is considered as a perfect player for him.
He has his issues at the back but the former Sevilla man is a decent option for Silva. But can he revive his career at the Vicarage Road?
