Chris Smalling has been one of the mainstays in the defence for Manchester United since his arrival in the team from his former club Fulham. However, in the last season, the player underwent an injury scare and missed a chunk of the season and has looked far from his best since his return to the first team.
The Red Devils have already brought in a reliable defender in the form of Victor Lindelof from the Portuguese Primeira Liga Champion side Benfica, which has pushed the English defender further down the pecking order. There is also a possibility of the player to be allowed to make a move out of Old Trafford in the next term.
This has irked a number of teams from the Premier League, who are looking to sign the player for the next season, with a view to strengthen their backline. Reportedly, West Ham United, Everton and West Bromwich Albion are interested in making a bid for the player to be a part of their team in the next term.
West Bromwich Albion-
The Baggies have been dependent on their back line throughout the last term and have been nearly invincible on their home turf at the Hawthorns. However, the team has not performed that well on the away trips and the defence has failed to live up to the expectations in that aspect. The inclusion of a player like Chris Smalling into the team and letting him pair up with his former teammate Jonny Evans from Manchester United might come as a boost for the team to perform better in the next season.
West Ham United-
The Hammers are undergoing a sort of an overhaul of their team in the summer and have got themselves a number of top class players including the likes of Marco Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez. The Manchester United centre back will no doubt be a very good inclusion to their side for the next season and might help in making their defence a stronger one in the next term so that they can turn the table on its head.
Everton-
The Merseyside club has already got two good defenders in the form of Ashley Williams and Michael Keane at their disposal. However, it might not be a bad idea to get someone like Chris Smalling as well, which might give them more options to experiment with in the next season especially with the plethora of fixtures awaiting them.
